Client: Marketing66
My Role: Interaction Designer, UX Researcher, Product Manager, User Interface Designer
Background: The stock market is a fickle thing. There are thousands of stocks to buy and sell and no magic formula to follow. If only there was someone out there to tell you exactly when to buy and sell…
Objective: To create a mobile app that will help both new and veteran stock traders know which stocks to invest in and be able to track stocks they are watching
Stage 1: Research
Competitive Analysis
This is a financial app that will be sending out stock signals to users. So I looked at some of the leaders in the finance world like eToro, Investing.com, and TradingView.
Stage 2: Define
My Solution
I wanted this app to be informative, simple, and bring value to our subscribers. I also wanted to create many ways for users to interact with the app and other traders so I decided to bring in a social aspect by creating a live chat.
Main Features
These are the must-have features that PeperStock will include, and the value they will bring to users.
Application Map
When beginning to design a new app, I always create an organisational flow of pages to help me visualize the structure and layout.
User Flow
After creating the application map, we worked on a user flow to map out the journey the user would take and identify any pain points or issues. I ended up making two versions of the user flow, as we have both a free and paid version of the app.
Stage 3: Design
Logo/Branding
The logo needed to be clearly related to finance and investing so after many iterations I landed on this I also created an animated version to use for a loading screen in-app.
UI Screens
Landing Page
I made a responsive landing page for PeperStock to direct people to download the app. It talks about its features and how to use the app to better your trading. You can view the landing page at www.peperstock.com or watch the screen recording of it here!
Stage 4: Test
Prototyping
I created a working prototype of my mobile app using the prototyping tool InVision. I tested out the prototype on volunteers to see what features of the app worked well and what needed be improved. After prototyping I revised my design to be more user-friendly.
What's Next?
PeperStock launched in Spring 2021 and has over helped over 80,000 learn to trade smarter. After a soft launch of the app we took in user feedback to improve and added additional features like a help section, and a potential gain calculator. Peperstock has over 2,000 paid subscribers and an active community in-app. I continue to work with the product manager and dev team to improve the user experience with PeperStock.
